Vision, Issues, & Values

Why Dr. James Sendelbach became a candidate for Rockdale County Commission Chair

Rockdale County has undergone a massive change under the Oz Nesbitt administration in the last six years. With election time fast approaching, citizens have an opportunity to make a mass correction by stopping relentless building.

There are many housing developments in Rockdale County with elegant, unique, inspiring individual homes in Irwin Place, Annsbrooke, Salem Lake, Ivy Bluff, Brentwood, and so many other beautiful neighborhoods in North and South Rockdale. Now, the term “housing development” means the massive clear-cutting of trees and the rapid building of hundreds and hundreds of cookie-cutter townhouses, apartments, warehouses, and storage buildings.

There is a need for some of these buildings, but everywhere you look, there is a superabundance of these structures. This imbalance increases traffic, congestion, rainwater runoff problems,

clean water supply concerns, and demand for law enforcement (though I’m happy to say we have a great sheriff and dedicated deputies).

It is time to Stop the Build – that’s the mantra of citizens concerned about the overbuilding and loss of thousands of trees. One could ask where all the flowers, the animals, and the trees that give life-giving oxygen have gone. They’re no longer there to make their gift of healthful living, and their absence contributes to climate change. According to several sources, Georgia is either the 6th worst or 3rd worst state for climate change in the US. Let’s preserve our natural beauty and resources and build a better tomorrow!
